My name is Rhonda Baylor, my husband and I are proud Habitat For Humanity Homeowners. We obtained our home January 26, 2011. Before we were Habitat Home Owners we lived in an apartment that was not fit to live in however we made the best of it. God has delivered us from substance abuse. I have be delivered for 16 and a half years and my husband has been delivered for 14 years.
I had always dreamed of becoming a home owner. The only problem was I did not know if it was possible. We lived a life of homelessness before we moved to Mt Airy. Please do not think you are alone when you purchase a home from Habitat For Humanity because they have been there for me and will be there for you. Their Brush of Kindness program is the best. My back porch was in need of repair and someone form their Brush Of Kindness Program came out to make the repair at no cost. They really care and want the best for every homeowner in Surry County and the surrounding areas.
My husband and I started a 501c3 Nonprofit outreach called Bruised But Not Broken. We provide gently used clothes and a hot meal for people in need every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at no cost. On the 2nd Saturday we provide free food and clothing from 11 AM until 1PM. On the 4th Saturday we provide a free hot meal only from 11AM until 12:30 PM. We were providing free food and clothes at a local pharmacy parking lot, until Habitat For
Humanity offered us space at their location. Habitat For Humanity also offered us space to store donated clothes at no cost. That was a huge blessing because we were paying storage fees. We are truly blessed to be part of Habitat For Humanity family. We do not feel alone on our homeowner journey because we know we have a friend with Surry County Habitat For Humanity.
We thank God for all He has done. We thank Habitat For Humanity for all they do!
